Simulation of Electrical Machines, Power Electronics, and Electrical Drives (SEMPEED) is a consortium comprised of Marquette University, General Motors, MTS, and Motor Design Limited Motor CAD. Current projects included rapid electromagnetic simulation convergence of startup transient and steady state for induction machines, stress analysis on interior permanent-magnet motors, design optimization of electrical machines, and multi-physics simulation of electric machines.

SEMPEED is a research and development collaboration between Marquette University and Motor Design Limited. It aims to investigate new technologies for long-term business growth through partnership with academic research teams.

  •  SEMPEED has increased the performance and decreased time-to-market of machine designs with the industry's leading easy-to-use simulation software.

Speeding up the starting simulation convergence in the FEA simulation of an induction machine.

  • Stress analysis on interior permanent magnet (IPM) motors.

  • Optimization design and analysis of a five phase flux switching PM machine.

  • Functionality enhancements to the multi physics simulation capabilities of Motor-CAD.
